Sicily Christmas tree ornament

Sicily Christmas tree ornament

Our Christmas tree is a travelogue treasure trove. Several of the ornaments have been collected on journeys at home and abroad, and when we adorn the tree, it’s time to reflect. A Nordic felted bauble from Iceland, an Austrian gilded and painted egg, and jingle bells from Geneva, to name a few.

One of the smallest trinkets comes from Sicily, a fascinating Italian island full of adventures. Volcanoes, mythological tales, legendary film locations, and more islands. And whenever I glimpse the exquisite Christmas decoration, the memories surge back to me.

I wrote a travel feature about the experience.
