Friendly landlord offers family home – situated beside bird feeding station and birdbath. This newly developed open-planned apartment offers a unique living opportunity. Set among trees with river views, and no added costs, not even rent.

Sounds enticing, but none of our feathered friends have taken up home in our pretty little birdhouse. It’s not the first time we’ve erected one to no avail, so this time we searched for information on Google.

  • Each box should be comfortable and safe
  • They should be cool in the summer and warm in winter
  • Well ventilated
  • Away from predators

We tick all the boxes, so guess we just have to be patient. Maybe some of the species visiting our garden are checking out the accommodation’s suitability for nesting and roosting as they flit back and forth.

Until then, we’ll carry on feeding them and be thankful for all the enjoyment they bring. We are forever checking in our RSPB Book Of British Birds when there’s a new character in the neighbourhood, so let’s hope our birdhouse will be occupied soon, and then I’ll let you know.

Bye for now.
